Transnational repression is the systematic extension of authoritarian state violence, surveillance, and coercion beyond national borders to silence dissidents, activists, and diaspora communities in foreign countries, operating through physical assassination, commercial spyware, fake police stations, and legal mechanisms to create extraterritorial control that undermines democratic protections and demonstrates that opposition to authoritarian regimes offers no escape even in democracies.
